I had the opportunity to attend a Kimi Ora Yoga and Mindfulness retreat with Jamila Knopp in June. I was blown away by the weekend. It was the perfect balance between being able to get away to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and practice yoga, mindfulness and meditation. Jamila was able to cater to everyone needs in our class, from beginners to the more advanced yogi’s and she was always happy to adjust poses when required which was extremely helpful. The Kimi Ora yoga and mindfulness retreats with Jamila are a fantastic way to recharge your batteries and reset your goals. I have thoroughly enjoyed both retreats that I have attended over the past 6 months. The group is made up of about 14 adults. You don’t need to know anyone prior to attending as it is your own journey. However, I met so many lovely women during these retreats who have now become friends. I really didn’t know much about mindfulness when I got invited to Jamila’s course by a friend. I had a very basic awareness of what mindfulness means before attending Jamila’s course on Mindfulness. I was quite surprised to learn how our bodies respond to fight or flight situations and that I had the power within me to alter my automatic (autopilot) reaction during those times. For example, I have learned to observe thoughts rather than mull them over and over. The mindfulness breathing enables me to calm my body, breathing, and heartbeat. Two months down the line I am calmer and less phased by things that don’t really matter in the greater scheme of things. I get more done, and I sleep better at night! After struggling with my weight, energy levels and a sluggish thyroid for several years, Jamila’s Weight Management program was the first to have real, holistic results on my well-being and my body’s ability to manage my weight. It is my great pleasure to commend Jamila Knopp. She is the finest massage therapist, Herbalist, and diagnostician I have yet encountered. Jamila uses Ayurvedic techniques which have been proved effective over thousands of years. With her knowledge of Ayurveda Jamila corrects imbalances that we all discover in ourselves from time to time. Her knowledge of her arts and her delivery of the right remedy are superb.
For example, Jamila offers what could be called conventional massage, but she also offers a special oil massage for the head that relieves mental tensions. I find this particularly valuable because I do so much mental work. She also offers oil treatments for the eyes, or parts of the body that are injured such as the back that relieve pain and restore balance. Relieving tension in the body allows the body to repair itself, and Jamila is masterful at relieving physical and mental tensions. In addition, Jamila knowledge of Herbs, different diets for different body types, and her ability to literally feel something out of balance are quite remarkable.
My family finds Jamila approach to be tailored to each of us as individuals. She recognizes physiological differences quickly and recommends what suits each individual best.

I am a client of Jamila Knopp. I have received many Shirodhara and Ayurvedic treatments including Massage. The Shirodhara experience is unique and wonderful. The warm oil flowing on and over the third eye soothes the inner sanctum of your mind and soul.

My most frequent treatment was the Indian Ayurveda treatment of Shirodhara perfectly provided by Jamila. Shirodhara is traditionally used to calm the nerves and harmonize the mind. I began weekly yoga classes with Jamila Knopp about 14 months ago when I was very sick with anxiety, which led to eczema which had become seriously infected. I could not sleep or relax and I was in a very bad way. The Yoga classes were excellent because the stretching helped to free tension in my neck , which had built up from doing a very fast-paced repetitive manual job. Also the relaxation and breathing exercises have helped to calm me and enable me to sleep.
Jamila is very sensitive to the needs of her Yoga students – she is aware of their limitations and encourages them to move at their own pace. She is attuned to specific needs and includes a range of different combinations of exercises to support various bodily functions such as digestion. She also includes a variety of breathing techniques and is good at adapting poses to met individual requirements.
I feel that Jamila is a gifted and talented Yoga teacher and I look forward to my 90 minute session every Thursday evening. I would thoroughly recommend these Yoga classes to everyone as I find the workout very rewarding on many levels. – Sheila H. – Richmond
For about 4 years I have been attending Jamila’s Yoga classes and they are one of my highlights of my week. The small class size and caring individual attention makes for a safe environment where we will not be asked to do postures that we are not physically ready for. For the last 8 weeks I have had the recommended course of treatment from Jamila of Foot Joint Mobilisation. Before I started the treatment I had been experiencing difficulties with feet feeling swollen, cramps in calves when walking, and other associated pain in muscles and nerves. Within the first couple of weeks of treatment these symptoms had completely disappeared and I was able to enjoy walking again. Both my feet have bunions that by the end of the day were throbbing and making it difficult to sleep, along with having pain in the arch of my right foot. Since having treatment from Jamila the daily pain has gone, and I am finally getting a good night’s sleep. The bunion remains on my right foot, but is reduced and only aches after a big day on my feet when I have been working physically or tramping. My left foot appears normal again and is pain free.
