Getting Here by Air

Nelson is the closest airport to Kaiteriteri and Kimi Ora Eco Resort. International airports closest to Kaiteriteri are Wellington (North Island) and Christchurch (South Island). Regional airlines offer scheduled services into Nelson airport. They are Air New Zealand, Soundsair, and Originair. Air New Zealand also offers flights from Auckland and Christchurch to Nelson a few times daily.

Airport transfer

The Nelson airport is located outside of Nelson and between Nelson and Richmond. There are a few options on how to get from the Nelson airport to Kaiteriteri either in a rental car, using public transport, a shuttle service or a taxi. Please contact us if you would like us to arrange this for you at an additional cost. The Retreat fee does not include transport to and from the airport. The lowest cost option is renting a car from the Nelson Car Hire company, which when we last checked was $40 per day for renting a car. 

Getting Here by Coach

Some bus and coach services connect Nelson, Motueka (which is 15 minutes from Kaiteriteri) and Kaiteriteri with other destinations in the North and South Islands. For example
Abel Tasman Coachlines, a regional coach service or
InterCity, a national coach services to Nelson.

Getting Here by Car

You might like to rent a car at the Nelson airport, which is your easiest and lowest cost option. We can highly recommend the Nelson family-owned business Nelson Car Hire which has been used by other retreat participants. Or you will find some info on other car rental options at the Nelson airport here. Kaiteriteri is about a 1-hour drive from Nelson. Directions from Nelson: 

Follow Highway 6 south to Richmond. Stay on the highway through the traffic lights at Richmond. At the roundabout (traffic circle) after the lights, take the exit to Motueka (Highway 60). Continue along Hwy 60 for approx 40 km (25 miles) to a roundabout (traffic circle) at the entrance to Motueka township. Take the second exit into High St.

In Motueka, continue along High Street (Hwy 60) which is the main street through Motueka. Then continue along High St. out of town for approximately 8 km (5 miles). The highway contains several junctions but you continue on the main road as it crosses the Motueka River (long, narrow 2-lane bridge), veers right through Riwaka and then crosses the Riwaka River Bridge. Two hundred meters past Riwaka Bridge, turn right off the highway, signposted to Abel Tasman National Park via Kaiteriteri. Continue for 6 km to Kaiteriteri.

In Kaiteriteri: When you get to Kaiteriteri follow the signs to Kimi Ora Eco Resort. Take the first road to the left (before the bridge) and follow the signage.

Retreat location

Our Kaiteriteri retreats are held at the wonderful Kimi Ora Eco Resort at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. The resort is ideally situated at the gateway to the picturesque world-famous Abel Tasman National Park.
